In the dysgnathia consultation, patients with the various changes in the facial skeleton are advised and treated in interdisciplinary cooperation with orthodontists. In particular, all forms of overdevelopment and underdevelopment of the upper and lower jaw (e.g. progenia, distal bite, narrow jaw, cross bite), isolated tooth position anomalies, congenital or acquired temporomandibular joint disorders and also facial malformations (e.g. bird face) as well as patients with syndromes localized in the head and neck are cared for here. After joint preparation with the treating orthodontists/dentists and appropriate planning of the operation, the patients are then treated surgically at the clinic and receive follow-up care.
Modern therapy methods, such as distraction osteogenesis, are routinely used and also represent a research focus of the clinic (Magdeburg Palatal Distractor).
